Winter Organizing Projects for 2020

Here in Seattle, we’ve been blessed with a couple of sunny days where it wasn’t raining! I’m grateful, but I know Winter isn’t quite over yet. Spring is still a few weeks away; and that means it’s not quite time yet for Spring Cleaning.

However, you might want to embark on some home and office organization projects that you can accomplish this winter. Checking a few things off your list will make Spring Cleaning so much easier when April rolls around!

It’s too cold to organize our garages, attics or basements comfortably. Instead, we can focus on projects inside our homes and offices. We can stay warm and cozy while sorting, organizing, cleaning and tidying.

Breaking big tasks into smaller chunks makes organizing your home less intimidating. I like to focus on just one area or project at a time, and set attainable goals.

Here are some ideas for organizing projects that take just a few hours:

Kitchen organization – Get your fridge and pantry sorted out; counters cleared; unused appliances donated; drawers and cupboards cleaned and reset.

Closet organization – Get your wardrobe ready for Spring; clean out your guest bedroom closet so guests can hang their clothing when they visit; sort and donate clothing your children have outgrown.

Linen closet organization – Sort sheets, pillows, quilts, blankets, towels, and table linens.

Coat closet, entryway, mudroom and laundry room organization – Put away unused coats and shoes, make laundry supplies more accessible, get rid of laundry supplies you aren’t using; clear clutter from the entryway to your home.

Master bedroom revitalization project – Turn your master bedroom into a relaxing, comforting sanctuary, free of clutter and distractions.

Kids rooms – With your child’s help, reorganize their bedroom over a Saturday or Sunday afternoon

Another project that’s ideal for wintertime is organizing your home office. Come up with a system for keeping your papers and files organized, desk decluttered, computer equipment situated, and your office space more usable.
